UPDATE: Writ of Kalikasan Obando Landfill

The Court of Appeals has ruled in favour of DENR decision supported by testimony and affidavit of Aquagem founder Cecil Corloncito

15 Oct 2014

Under the Writ of Kalikasan, environmental cases in the Philippines are filed directly to the Supreme Court but the hearing is done by the Court of Appeals being a litigation court. On 21 October 2013, Aquagem's founder Engr Cecil Corloncito was admitted by the Philippines Court of Appeals as an expert witness of a case filed against a proposed landfill along the Manila Bay in Obando, Bulacan. For 3 days, Engr Corloncito was providing expert testimony based on evidence and his opinions and was allowed to provide a powerpoint presentation to the court and to the audience. The justices were provided the most logical testimony why the proposed landfill could comply with policies and regulations of the Philippines as well as the best practice guidelines for the State of Victoria in Australia.

Engr Corloncito was happy to have provided impartial and rational testimony to the honourable justices and to the attendees of the proceedings. The case was filed against the Secretary of DENR for issuance of Environmental Compliance Certificate to the proponent.

The court has deliberated and has ruled recently in favour of the DENR ECC issuance of the landfill. Eng'r Corloncito was thanked by the proponent of the landfill project.
